Labels can be used to categorize patients in numerous ways, but in general, they are meant to help you classify and locate specific types of patients. For example, common labels include those that identify:

  • Special needs (such as wheelchair, dialysis, oxygen)
  • Bioterrorism agents (such as anthrax, smallpox, ricin)
  • Types of emergency workers (such as Fire Department, EMS, Nurse)

Labels are managed by administrators through System Settings > Regional Settings, and then are added to forms as a component.

When available, labels can be assigned when adding or editing patients. Labels can then be used to filter patients on dashboard gadgets or searches. In the following example, a client list gadget shows only those patients with the Dialysis label.
