Event templates help you create new events more quickly by providing a consistent structure and formatting for particular types of events. Using templates saves time when you need to create an actual event.

As an authorized user, you can create new templates and specify default elements for the selected type of event. You must specify the types of events for which the template is appropriate. This Definition appears in the Event Template List to help others determine which template is appropriate for their current needs.

A few notes about creating event templates:

  • You can test the audio by clicking Test.

  • The exact location of an emergency event can be a crucial element in your response efforts. In these cases, select the Mandatory Address check box to require that the event creator supply certain location details (City, State, and County).

  • The Status Types you choose for the template must be appropriate for the resource type(s) you selected.

  • You can associate up to 50 status types with a template.

Note: Including many resource types and status types may cause problems for users running older computers and/or browsers.

After creating a template, you can set up or change the:

  • Types of notifications sent to users and resources (email, pager, and/or web).

  • Template security. This option is available if you select the Security check box when creating or editing a template. If selected, you can specify in the template's Event Security page the users who can activate and update this type of event.

To create an event template

  1. From any page, open the Event menu and click Event Setup. The Event Template List opens.
  2. Click Create New Event Template. The Create New Event Template page opens.
  3. Complete the appropriate fields:

Tip: To hear what the alert sounds like, select it from the list and click Test.
